Ten years ago the Arizona Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association hosted the first Taste of Spring at what was once CafeTerra Cotta. It was a small gathering of 40 people who helped us start an annual tradition of welcoming Spring, tasting a host of wine varietals, eating delicious food from Vivace and Acacia as well as 6 other local restaurants, and browsing and bidding on auction items gathered from local stores, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment sources. Over the years, our event has grown to attract over 200 “Tasters” and we want to continue that growth!
Our next Taste of Spring will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 2-5 pm at Five Palms Restaurant, 3500 Sunrise Drive in Tucson.
This will be a very special occasion for us, as we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary. You won’t want to miss this special occasion which benefits Arizonans with Parkinson’s. There will be an exciting raffle, door prizes and music. And, a special honoree who has improved the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s in the Tucson community.
This year we want to thank the following restaurants for serving our Taste of Spring guests with their delicious food:
Admission is $50 in advance and you may pay online here or call 520-326-5400. Admission is $60 at the door. The admission price includes wine, food, live jazz and access to unique auction items. You may also purchase raffle tickets for a 4-day 3-night stay for two at the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado, California. The trip includes round-trip airfare from Tucson to San Diego and a $100 gift card. Raffle tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. All proceeds stay in Arizona and help us continue to support people with Parkinson’s with specialized exercise classes, Power Over Parkinson’s educational conferences, and caregiver respites. And, importantly, proceeds help us fund a staffed telephone line for people who might need information or just a knowledgeable and sympathetic ear.
We hope you will support our commitment to Parkinson’s by buying a ticket and telling your friends about this event. Or, if you can’t come, perhaps you will buy a ticket anyway, or buy one and give it to a friend! If you would like to volunteer for helping with this event, or you have questions, please call APDA at 520-326-5400.
