The American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Arizona Chapter will begin the formation of a Parkinson’s disease support group for the White Mountain communities and it will meet in Pinetop, Arizona beginning September 23, 2013. It will be called “Coffee Talk in the Pines” and it will be modeled after the very successful Coffee Talks in Gilbert, Phoenix and Sun City.
My name is Ronald Kline and I have Parkinson ’s disease and I am a Charter member of the first Coffee Talk in Gilbert, AZ . It has become a very special weekly “stop” on my Parkinson’s journey.
Coffee in the Pines is for PD patients, their spouses and/or care givers who are seasonal or full time White Mountain residents. There are no fees, deductibles or co-pays required to attend.
For me, the coffee talk experience has become, a home away from home, a place of learning, a place to laugh and a place to cry. You will meet someone who will help you adapt and you will offer to help someone else ease their burden. And as the name suggests: A place to get a cup of coffee and a doughnut.
Under the heading “a place to laugh” I will share with you that I no longer use chop sticks or a straight razor.
I have many new friends at the Gilbert Center; Tom, Joey, Sheila, Alan, Ben, Annette, Padma, DJ, Vikki, Bernie, Victor, Judy, Harry, Norma, Al, Russ, Lynn and Jim and so many more…….Please know that you have eased my burden.
